Mohun Bagan have scouted Connor Metcalfe, but it's one for the Future
Every successful team in world football has a backbone in the team, the number 6.
Mohun Bagan is not an exception either as they have a certain Carl McHugh in their ranks, but McHugh is now in the final year of his deal, and signing an extension is unlikely as of now.
Mohun Bagan is scouting multiple players whom they can sign in the future years and a certain Aussie Connor Metcalfe have caught their eye.
Connor recently moved to German second division side St. Pauli and performed pretty well for them. It is said, signing Connor now is not feasible financially for the club and Connor has a chance to help his team to gain promotion to Bundesliga, so he is not interested in moving clubs yet.
But that is not stop Mohun Bagan from scouting him, who have a certain "Mission Asia 2028" planned, and they want to go big in the future transfer windows.
Signing former ACL winner Brandon Hamil was the start of the project, and now they have made the addition of a world class striker Jason Cummings too.
They have two solid option in Kauko and Hugo in the Midfield, but they want to holster it with a midifielder who is very sound defensively and have good ball playing ability too.
It is confirmed from my source that this signing WON'T HAPPEN now, but it is a serious possibility in the next summer unless St. Pauli gains promotion t Bundesliga and Metcalfe becomes a key part of the squad in that league.
Mohun Bagan have scouted many players in past few years, we broke the news of Haris Belkebla and Aiden O'Neill; but as of now, both are not ready to move to India.
Obviously, management has the same doubt over Metcalfe, but they believe, If/When Mohun Bagan wins the coveted AFC Cup, they will be able to attract this profile of players easily. Hence, they are scouting him extensively. But, it's fair to remember, signing Metcalfe won't be a reality this window.
